Niederberger-Engineering AG designed the incineration chamber for Zwilag (Würenlingen).

They needed a special container to burn radioactive objects (old protection suits, tools, rubbish, ...) and reduce their volume for storage. The chamber must withstand more than the extreme heat, it has also to rotate to improve the burning process. The radiating ash is afterwards filled in to steel barrels. The chamber must be basically maintenance free to avoid any contact with radioactive ash or dust.

The chamber required FEM-analysis as well as special calculations in the case of earthquakes and other emergencies.

Absolute reliability is a must have with this machine.
